Detective Constable Mohamed Yusif Jalloh attached to the Exhibit Office, Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters in Freetown, has tendered exhibits of a prohibited drug commonly called ‘Kush’ and other drugs at the Pademba Road Magistrate court No.1 in an ongoing hearing involving a 37 year old accused, John Koroma of 33 Berwick Street in Freetown.
During the presentation of the drugs to the court on Thursday 9th March 2023, the detective informed the presiding Magistrate, Mark Ngegba, that he was on duty on the 6th February this year when he received the items for safe keeping.
The exhibit he tendered include ‘kush’ contained in two transparent pharmaceutical bags weighing 62 grams, and methamphetamine a weighing 9.2 grams.
A liquid substance, Acetone contained in a transparent plastic weighing 200ml, which is said to be a substance used in the manufacturing of drugs was also tendered in court.
During cross examination by the defence lawyer Claudius Campbell, the exhibit officer said there were other similar prohibited drugs at their exhibit office and that the detective did not mark the particular one related to the case.
In response to the claim by the defence, the exhibit officer said they were marked based on the analysis report at the CID.
The accused has been charged with unlawful possession of ‘kush’, unlawful possession of high-risk drugs to wit methamphetamine and unlawful possession of substance intended to be used in the manufacturing of drugs to wit, acetone. The case was adjourned to 23rd March, 2023.
