Three men including an Indian national Dilip Peshwani (28) have been charged with conspiracy, housebreaking and larceny after they appeared before Magistrate Mark Ngeba at the Pademba Road Court no.1 in Freetown.
Samuel Isaac Bangalie (42) is first accused, Mohamed John Kamara (26) third accused whilst Peshwani is the second accused.
A woma, 22-year-old Isatu Ansumana is the fourth accused, with a count charge of conspiracy to commit an offence.
Items with a total value of two hundred and one thousand six hundred and thirty-nine new Leones (NLe 201,639) were reported stolen.
Their alleged offences that were read before the Principal Magistrate, Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road Court No.1 on Tuesday 14th February, 2023, indicated that on Saturday 3rd September last year the four accused persons conspired together with unknown persons burgled the Office of National Revenue Authority (NRA), No. 18 Wellington Street in Freetown.
Among the items allegedly missing from the NRA office were a fridge, five cartoons of A4 papers plus3 Pkts, 4 cartoons of IXL files, six cartoons of shorthand note pad and 17 cartoons of white envelope.
The four accused pleaded not guilty of the offences and were granted bail but to provide ten thousand new Leones and two sureties each, who should all be residents of Freetown.
This was after a bail application was submitted by one of the defence lawyers, J. Bockarie.
Bangalie is a public servant of 10 Old Railway Line in Freetown, Peshwani a business man of 25 Liverpool Street also in Freetown, whilst Kamara is a security guard residing at 19 Susan’s Bay in Freetown.
The case was adjourned to the 28th February, this year.
