The ministry of education has issued a 60-day ultimatum for teachers to verify their statuses across the country or risk having their salaries suspended until a proper authentication is done and approved.
The minister, Dr. Minkailu Bah said some 7,000 teachers, who had completed the process, might have their names deleted from the original list as per the recommendations of the report put together by a verification team.
“But in the interest of clarity and fairness the ministry has, since April this year, allowed teachers who are among that 7,000 to come forward with their registration slips for verification. Only 3,000 teachers have been verified so far,” he said, adding that that necessitated the imposition of a deadline.
National secretary general of the teachers’ union, Davidson Kuyateh said that they would be monitoring the process and would come out with a statement stating their findings. He urged his colleagues to adhere to the process and come forward for verification.
