United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon arrives in Sierra Leone next week. According to a UN source in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, he arrives around the 4 March to close down what is left of the UN mission in the country.
Details of his other engagements are not immediately clear but sources say Mr Ban will hold talks with President Ernest Bai Koroma, the UN family in the country on taking over some of the residual functions of UNIPSIL, as well as with civil society.
The UN boss was last here in June 2010 when, among other things, he officially opened the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation, a brainchild of his then Executive Representative in Sierra Leone, Michael Von Der Schulenburg who later left the country under controversial circumstances with a leaked letter indicating that the Sierra Leone government asked him out while the government insisted he was recalled.
