The Governor of the central bank of Sierra Leone, ShekuSambadeenSesay has reacted to a letter written to him by Freetown lawyer Yada William which was carried in our Tuesday edition.
The lawyer had questioned the governor’s appointment of the head of the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank during the recent trials of senior officials on fraud allegations. They were later found not wanting.
In a letter to Politico, a lawyer for the bank, SullayMannah said the bank had replied to the letter, which follows:

RE: APPOINTMENTS OF MANAGING DIRECTOR & CHIEF RISK OFFICER OF THE SIERRA LEONE COMMERCIAL BANK LTD.
I acknowledge receipt of your letter dated 5th August, 2013, addressed to the Governor on the above subject, with respect to which I have instructions to reply.
We appreciate the commendation expressed in your said letter for the recent actions taken by the Bank of Sierra Leone with respect to Sierra Leone Commercial Bank.
With regards to your opinions on the legality of the above appointments, I submit that your said letter to the Governor is not the appropriate forum for the expression of same.
We trust you shall advise yourself accordingly.
