The Manager of the Halal African Restaurant Alhaji Nyelenkeh says business at Lumley beach road is bad, as from morning till evening, only a few customers show up these days.
Nyelenkeh stated children in particular love his eatery but seldom come now because of the tension of the election in the country.
He stated that he is in a dilemma because his workers are looking forward to receiving their salaries at the end of the month.
He said he has not created a Whatsapp platform to engage his customers and comes to work every morning hoping for a better day.
The Manager of Olive’s Garden, Wilfanette Whitfield, said business around Aberdeen beach road was already bad even before the election period.
She however said as far as business is concerned they are blessed to have a full house on Thursday because they offer their customers a night of live band of reggae music.
Whitfield said the rest of the week is slow for her business, which she linked to the hike in prices of commodities, saying people prefer to relax and have fun at home rather than come to the beach because of the high prices charged.
She told Politico that another factor affecting her business is the influx of street traders and the use of the car parks by beachgoers to entertain themselves.
This new system is affecting their business because these people fill their cars with drinks and play music at these parks disrupting the flow of business, Whitfield claimed.
She went on to say that she has called on the authorities concerned to address the issue yet little has been done to handle the situation and that the best the authorities could do for her was to give her a no-parking sign board that she places in front of her business area to prevent cars from occupying the space.
