A popular club known as Zogoda intellectuals over the weekend donated football equipment and money to five football clubs within the Kissy Community in the east of Freetown.
Presenting the items, Brima Koroma, an executive member of the association said they stand ready help where necessary but that with football being "the most popular sport and most of the country's renowned players coming from the east, we have to sponsor football".
Koroma said his organisation is also supporting education because they now have more than 700 students nationwide.
He said the winners of the on-going football competition at Attouga mini stadium will get ten million leones in total besides the 15 pairs of jerseys, 50 pairs of boots, 7 pairs of cones and Le6,000,000 (six million Leones) cash donated to Quarry FC, Mans FC, Hot Water FC, Television Pole Strikers and Pillow Football clubs respectively.
Community members, including Chief Amadu Sesay congratulated the association and prayed that they will do more.
