Mountain City and Brookfield’s Community have both been fined Le300,000 each following crowd trouble during their match at the Parade Grounds over the weekend. During the second half of play fans of Brookfields Community invaded the pitch believing that referee Sheriff Maruff had denied them a penalty.
They confronted the referee violently and forced him to flee as while fans of both sides threw missiles at each other. The match was abandoned.
The disciplinary committee of the Central One Football Association Committee has awarded the points to Mountain City who were leading 1-0 before the pitch was invaded..
