FBC mourns lecturer

Lecturers and students of Fourah Bay College (FBC), University of Sierra Leone are mourning the death of Dr. Prince E. Kenny, former lecturer and Head of the Language Department.

Dr. Kenny according to sources served the college for about two decades and published some books before his death on Tuesday 23rd November this year.

Speaking to Politico, Head of Language Studies Department at F.B.C, Dr. Abdulai Walon-Jalloh said Dr. Kenny’s demise is a great loss to the department especially in the area of the French Language, noting that he was one of few French tutors in the department.  He said Dr. Kenny was a committed and dedicated lecturer.

Speaking on behalf of the Academic Staff Association, Dr. Williette James said the decease was a dedicated, caring and respectful personality to all those who crossed his path including his students. “His death is a great loss to us as he is one of few French tutors in that department,” he said.

Past and Present students of Fourah Bay College on their various social media platforms continue to mourn Dr. Kenny’s death and sympathize with his family. A date is yet to be fixed for his funeral rites.

The Department recently lost two other lecturers. Mr. Authur Edger Smith of the Language Studies department was allegedly attacked and murdered in his flat in the Lower Faculty area of the campus on Sunday 14th March, 2021. No one has yet been charged over his killing. The other, Mrs. Gloria Palmer, died of natural causes, sometimes in July this year.
