FC Johansen Football Club has pulled out of the proposed premier league being organized by the Football Stakeholders schedule to commence this weekend.
According to John Keister, head Coach of FC Johansen, his team will not be part of the league which is not recognized by the SLFA.
FC Johasen is owned and managed by Isha Johansen who heads the other faction of the FA.
FC Johansen is guided with the rules and directive of the SLFA which they will adhere to as a member, Keister told Politico Sports.
“We are not playing for any CAF qualification so I cannot be part of it,” he said.
Keister added that his team was presently on training on a daily basis and playing friendlies with other premier league clubs. He said this was to ensure that his boys were kept fit for future competitions organized by the “legitimate body”.
Meanwhile, the RSLAF Football Club is contemplating whether to participate in the Sierra Leone National League, which the premier league version of the Football Stakeholder, according to its Secretary General Capt. John Kainessie. He disclosed to Politico Sports that they had highlighted issues with Football Stakeholders which they wanted addressed before they could take a decision on whether to take part in the league.
Among RSLAF FC’s concerns are: the short notice of commencement of the competition, and the possibility of a breach in the SLFA constitution.
“You will recall that all such leagues were previously organized by the Sierra Leone Premier League Board (SLPLB) under the auspices of the SLFA,” the RSLAF FC noted in a letter to the Football Stakeholders, a copy of which was seen by Politico.
Kainessie went on to say in the letter that the RSLAF had observed and monitored the ongoing development in the football sector in the country and said they would rather prefer an amicable resolution to the impasse.
