FC Kallon have said they will focus on merchandise to diversify their revenue base. The club made the disclosure during the launch of their new jerseys for supporters on Saturday.
The new Errea supporters’ jerseys which come in white, green, blue and red colors will be sold Le350,000 for one. When asked if it’s a new revenue stream, the Chairman of the club, Tunde Scott, said: “100%, absolutely! Imagine if you sell 2000 jerseys, that is Le700 million for the club.”
“We have products like “cold cap” and other things which have been held up in our shipment because of the Coronavirus,” he added.
Mr Scott said it’s important for the club to focus on finding more ways to raise money.
An executive member said 1000 of those jerseys have been freighted just to get into the country in time for their big clash with the defending champions East End Lions, which will be played next weekend.
Foday Daboh, a senior executive of the club, told Politico that they haven’t costed the projected revenue they would make from merchandise this season, but note that “it will be huge” and that they would know more once the full container of their shipment got in the country.
The shipment includes branded towels, slippers, bags and more.
The club is known for using branded merchandise. Over the last decade, they have used brands like Umbro, Hummels, Stannd and now Errea, an Italian based sport brand.
