The Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Tennis Association SLTA has told Politico that they are embarking on developmental projects to improve the facilities of the association. Yayah Koroma said that "we are using this State of Emergency period to put certain things in place before the ban on all sporting activities is lifted."
Koroma said "the executive of the association has facilitated the renovation of our office at the national stadium because without a well-structured secretariat we will not run the affairs of the sport effectively that was why we decided to refurbish our office which is now in full operation."
He said in order to develop the sport "by introducing new lads to the game and more fans to know and support the sport the International Tennis Federation (ITF) is keen to construct standard tennis courts across the country.'
He said they have met with officials of the Hill station Tennis court and agreed a lease for which a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed. Koroma said "we are actually embarking on a developmental drive so that Lawn Tennis will improve nationwide within the next four years."
He said the "lifting of our ban by the ITF has brought a big boost for us and our athletes will now participate in tennis competitions internationally.
