A 58-year-old man accused of killing his sister appeared at the Ross Road, Freetown Magistrate Court on Tuesday 15th August on a count of Murder Charge.
Sulaiman Conteh is accused of killing Prison Officer Isha Saidu Hughes of 6A Savage Street in Freetown on Friday 14th July 2023.
Standing by the door of the partially dark courtroom, the Court Registrar wept as he attempted to read the charge sheet.
He suddenly became overwhelmed with emotion, his voice trembling, and could hardly continue reading the charge sheet.
Magistrate Sahr Kekura had to take the charge sheet and read it himself; and as he did, a good number of the people in and outside the courtroom could be heard sobbing.
The Mother of the siblings who was seated right behind this writer, continuously wept loudly despite the “silence in court,” order from a police officer. An elderly Police female inspector was also seen weeping bitterly in the courtroom.
The accused was said to be the elder brother of the deceased. Dressed in brown Africana attire the accused was said to be a deportee from the United States of America.
The matter resumes on Friday 18th August this year.
