Bo Rangers club house project is on track for completion by the end of the season. On Saturday the building reached a new height and a step further to completion after it was floated.
The Public Relations Officer of the club, Solomon Demby, told Politico that they were optimistic that they would hand over the building to the club by the end of the season.
“By the end of the season we should have handed over the building to the club, so all the players we have will move in by next season,” Demby said, adding: “We initial thought about 19 rooms but we are thinking about adding two more.”
Bo Rangers is the only Premier League club in the Southern region of the country. This season the club are major contenders for the league title.
In preparation for that, the club recruited players from major teams in the capital Freetown. But accommodation has been expensive and sometimes not conducive.
Demby said the players were already excited about the prospect of entering in to the new building.
“Before they went for off season due to the Coronavirus, some were even joking that when they return, they will just move in to the new house. They were all happy because they know how the house will be like,” he said.
Club officials say the rooms will be built with bathrooms and balconies. Each room will accommodate two players, according to Demby.
Last week the Ministry of Sports announced the suspension of all sporting activities, immediately halting the Sierra Leone Premier League.
Clubs in the country heavily rely on their ticket sales revenue to undertake activities relating to their operations. Demby said though the suspension of the league will affect their revenue base, the club had already found a way round it, even before the suspension.
“This will affect our revenue stream somehow, but we had already started pushing to generate revenue. Through our fans club, people are still paying their monthly dues and we have had radio talk shows out of which people have donated cement, sand and other building materials.”
When completed, the Bo Rangers club house will be the first Club House to be ever built in Sierra Leone by any football club.
