Erstwhile Minister of Works, Alimamy Petito Koroma has reacted to his Saturday night sacking. Speaking to Politico he said he held “no bitterness, no grudge” against his former boss or anyone for his sacking. Sounding biblical he said “in everything give God the glory” stressing that his conviction was rooted in the bible. He said he remained a politician but declined to comment on whether or not he was still interested in running for president as had been widely rumoured. When pushed on the issue he said “It is premature to say anything about my presidential ambition” adding, “we have three more years to go”. Petito and the Director of the Sierra Leone Roads Authority were sacked over the weekend in the back of complaints over the poor state of the country’s roads. He had served since the election of President Ernest Bai Koroma in 2007 first as Trade Minister. While many see Petito’s sacking as necessary because of the potholes on almost every street in Freetown, others say it is a ploy by the president to dent his presidential ambition as the split in the All People’s Congress party widens.
