SANUSI COVID-19 indices update (01/03/21)

Sierra Leone recorded 0.10% and 0.19% increase in COVID-19 total cases and total deaths respectively in 48 hours, from Thursday (10:00 am) to Saturday (10:00 am).

In comparison, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total cases was lower compared to Burkina Faso (0.44%), Cape Verde (0.61%), Ivory Coast (0.57%), Gambia (1.10%), Ghana (1.65%), Guinea (1.36%), Guinea-Bissau (2.21%), Liberia (0.40%), Mali (0.31%), Nigeria (0.80%), Senegal (2.40%), Togo (2.78%), the Manor River Union or MRU (0.74%), the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS (1.11%), Africa (0.64%), Europe (1.17%), North America (0.60%), South America (1.09%), Asia (0.80%) and the world (0.89%). Benin and Niger recorded zero increase in total cases.

Senegal (3.10%) recorded the highest percentage increase in total deaths compared to Cape Verde (0.69%), Ivory Coast (1.06%), Gambia (0.68%), Ghana (1.71%), Guinea (1.14%), Mali (0.57%), Nigeria (0.90%), MRU (0.68%), ECOWAS (1.22%), Africa (0.69%), Europe (1.04%), North America (0.90%), South America (0.94%), Asia (0.63%) and the world (0.90%). Benin, Burkina Faso, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Niger, Sierra Leone and Togo recorded zero increase in total deaths over the period.

Moreover, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total recoveries was lower compared to Burkina Faso (0.74%), Cape Verde (0.79%), Ivory Coast (0.66%), Ghana (3.41%), Guinea (0.55%), Guinea-Bissau (0.74%), Nigeria (1.32%), Senegal (2.57%), Togo (1.38%), MRU (0.58%), ECOWAS (1.66%), Africa (0.96%), Europe (1.62%), North America (0.99%), South America (0.77%), Asia (0.73%) and the world (1.04%). Percentage increase in total recoveries was lower in Liberia (0.05%) and Mali (0.14%) compared to Sierra Leone. Benin, Gambia and Niger recorded zero increase in total recoveries.
