SANUSI COVID-19 indices update (16/06/21)

Sierra Leone recorded 5.35%, 3.80% and 0.58% increase in COVID-19 total infections, deaths and recoveries respectively over the past nine days.

In comparison, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total infections was higher compared to Benin (0.33%), Burkina Faso (0.04%), Cape Verde (1.61%), Ivory Coast (0.56%), Gambia (0.23%), Ghana (0.28%), Guinea (0.39%), Guinea-Bissau (0.42%), Mali (0.35%), Niger (0.24%), Nigeria (0.16%), Senegal (0.74%), Togo (0.66%), the Manor River Union or MRU (1.12%), the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS (0.51%), Africa (2.59%), Europe (0.63%), North America (0.48%), South America (3.24%), Asia (2.05%) and the world (1.53%). However, percentage increase in total infections was higher in Liberia (12.45%) compared to Sierra Leone.

Moreover, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total deaths was higher in Cape Verde (3.37%), Gambia (0.56%), Ghana (0.25%), Guinea (3.09%), Guinea-Bissau (1.47%), Mali (0.77%), Senegal (0.61%), Togo (0.80%), MRU (2.20%), ECOWAS (0.62%), Africa (1.82%), Europe (0.67%), North America (0.54%), South America (2.92%) and the world (2.02%). Percentage increase in total deaths was higher in Liberia (6.82%) and Asia (4.89%) compared to Sierra Leone. Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Niger, Nigeria and Sierra Leone recorded zero increase in total deaths over the period.

However, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total recoveries was lower compared to Benin (1.09%), Cape Verde (2.40%), Liberia (2.14%), Mali (0.80%), Niger (0.78%), Africa (1.80%), Europe (1.02%), North America (3.44%), South America (3.44%), Asia (3.04%) and the world (2.10%). Percentage increase in total recoveries was lower in Burkina Faso (0.05%), Ivory Coast (0.53%), Gambia (0.38%), Ghana (0.25%), Guinea (0.72%), Guinea-Bissau (0.54%), Nigeria (0.17%), Togo (0.44%), MRU (0.64%) and ECOWAS (0.50%) compared to Sierra Leone. Senegal (0.73%) recorded the same percentage increase in total recoveries as Sierra Leone.
