Sierra Leone recorded 7.40% and 1.63% increase in COVID-19 infections and deaths respectively, from January 3-15, 2022.
However, percentage increase in COVID-19 infections over the period was lower in Sierra Leone compared to Burkina Faso (13.27%), Cape Verde (32.02%), Ivory Coast (15.49%), Gambia (9.36%), Ghana (7.41%), Guinea (11.25%), Guinea-Bissau (7.50%), Liberia (13.43%), Mali (35.37%), Niger (13.86%), Senegal (9.08%), Togo (18.24%), the Manor River Union or MRU (13.69%), the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS (10.06%), Europe (18.00%), North America (18.67%) and the world (13.07%). On the other hand, percentage increase in total infections was lower in Benin (4.42%), Nigeria (3.66%), Africa (6.73%), South America (7.35%) and Asia (5.68%) compared to Sierra Leone.
Moreover, percentage increase in Coronavirus deaths was lower in Sierra Leone compared to Burkina Faso (6.60%), Cape Verde (5.13%), Ivory Coast (5.06%), Ghana (3.57%), Guinea (3.84%), Mali (3.80%), Niger (4.74%), Nigeria (2.05%), Togo (5.24%), MRU (3.50%), ECOWAS (2.62%), Africa (2.15%), Europe (2.88%), North America (2.40%) and the world (1.84%). Percentage increase in deaths was lower in Benin (0.62%), Gambia (0.29%), Guinea-Bissau (0.67%), Senegal (0.74%), South America (0.47%) and Asia (1.23%) compared to Sierra Leone. Liberia recorded zero increase in total deaths over the period.
Cape Verde (29.53%) recorded the highest percentage increase in recoveries compared to Benin (1.33%), Burkina Faso (9.53%), Ivory Coast (17.00%), Gambia (1.48%), Ghana (7.51%), Guinea (3.72%), Guinea-Bissau (0.33%), Liberia (3.83%), Mali (22.24%), Niger (5.70%), Nigeria (4.44%), Senegal (3.40%) Togo (8.82%), MRU (11.63%), ECOWAS (8.10%), Africa (6.37%), Europe (8.04%), North America (4.40%), South America (2.69%), Asia (2.55%) and the world (4.77%). Sierra Leone recorded zero increase in total recoveries.
