Many parts of the world experienced a significant decrease in COVID-19 infections and deaths over the week, October 10-18, 2021.
Europe (2.05%) recorded the highest percentage increase in infections compared to Benin (0.92%), Burkina Faso (1.91%), Cape Verde (0.45%), Ivory Coast (0.42%), Gambia (0.07%), Ghana (0.84%), Guinea (0.23%), Guinea-Bissau (0.21%), Liberia (0.07%), Mali (1.09%), Niger (1.26%), Nigeria (0.81%), Senegal (0.04%), Togo (0.54%), the Manor River Union or MRU (0.32%), the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS (0.64%), Africa (0.55%), North America (1.35%), South America (0.34%), Asia (1.20%) and the world (1.30%). Sierra Leone recorded zero increase in total infections.
Guinea-Bissau (4.44%) recorded the highest percentage increase in total deaths compared to Benin (1.26%), Burkina Faso (4.10%), Cape Verde (0.29%), Ivory Coast (3.49%), Gambia (0.30%), Ghana (0.78%), Guinea (0.52%), Mali (0.72%), Nigeria (3.35%), Senegal (0.16%), Togo (1.70%), MRU (1.73%), ECOWAS (1.65%), Africa (0.85%), Europe (1.41%), North America (1.42%), South America (0.30%), Asia (1.03%) and the world (1.04%). Benin, Liberia and Sierra Leone recorded zero increase in total deaths over the period.
Moreover, Togo (3.47%) recorded the highest percentage increase in total recoveries compared to Benin (3.07%), Burkina Faso (1.08%), Cape Verde (0.66%), Ivory Coast (1.07%), Gambia (0.09%), Ghana (1.06%), Guinea (0.56%), Guinea-Bissau (0.88%), Mali (0.73%), Niger (1.17%), Nigeria (1.03%), Senegal (0.07%), Togo (3.47%), MRU (0.81%), ECOWAS (1.02%), Africa (1.08%), Europe (1.76%), North America (2.11%), South America (0.46%), Asia (1.48%) and the world (1.50%). Liberia and Sierra Leone recorded zero increase in total recoveries.
