SANUSI COVID-19 indices update (26/04/21)

Sierra Leone recorded 0.05% and 1.08% increase in COVID-19 total infections and total recoveries respectively in 24 hours, from Thursday (10:00 am) to Saturday (06:00 pm).

In comparison, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total infections was lower compared to Burkina Faso (0.49%), Cape Verde (2.86%), Ivory Coast (0.15%), Gambia (0.55%), Ghana (0.16%), Guinea (0.63%), Guinea-Bissau (0.24%), Liberia (0.29%), Mali (1.26%), Nigeria (0.09%), Senegal (0.23%), Togo (0.67%), the Manor River Union or MRU (0.29%), the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS (0.34%), Africa (0.54%), Europe (0.82%), North America (0.46%), South America (1.14%), Asia (2.84%) and the world (1.26%). However, percentage increase in total infections was lower in Nigeria (0.04%) compared to Sierra Leone. Benin recorded zero increase in total infections.

Mali (2.00%) recorded the highest percentage increase in total deaths compared to Burkina Faso (0.65%), Cape Verde (1.54%), Ivory Coast (0.72%), Gambia (1.17%), Ghana (0.65%), Senegal (0.09%), MRU (0.34%), ECOWAS (0.39%), Africa (0.57%), Europe (0.71%), North America (0.36%), South America (1.35%), Asia (1.86%) and the world (0.92%). Benin, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Togo recorded zero increase in total deaths over the period.

Moreover, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total recoveries was higher compared to Burkina Faso (0.59%), Ivory Coast (0.08%), Gambia (0.46%), Ghana (0.08%), Guinea (0.54%), Liberia (0.21%), Nigeria (0.13%), Senegal (0.31%), MRU (0.25%), ECOWAS (0.36%), Africa (0.55%), Europe (0.97%), North America (0.51%) and South America (0.89%). Percentage increase in recoveries was higher in Cape Verde (2.48%), Guinea-Bissau (1.64%), Mali (2.07%), Togo (1.75%), Asia (2.43%) and world (1.19%) compared to Sierra Leone. Benin and Niger recorded zero increase in total recoveries.
