Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, has reaffirmed the Government’s position on issues of reform in the United Nations Security Council and on efforts at encouraging African Countries to accede to the African Peer Review Mechanism.
He was addressing the 37th African Union (AU) Assembly of Heads of State on behalf of President Julius Maada Bio, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He presented two reports for endorsement and adoption “Firstly, the 24th C-10 report on the reform of the United Nations Security Council and secondly the African Peer Review report adopted by the 33rd Summit of the African Peer Review Forum" .
Writing on the social media platform LinkedIn the Vice President said he mentioned in his presentations the progress made in Sierra Leone under the leadership of President Bio particularly to mobilise broad support for the two objectives.
He spoke of how President Bio was recognised for his outstanding leadership with the C-10 and APR Forum, and that the reports were unanimously endorsed and adopted.
He expressed gratitude to the Sierra Leone delegation, led by the Minister of Political and Public Affairs, Amara Kallon, for their impressive work and the Government of Ethiopia for the warm reception.
President Bio is the Coordinator of the AU Committee of Ten Heads of State and Government on the UN Security Council Reforms (C-10) and the outgoing Chair of the African Peer Review Forum Chairperson of the African Peer Review Forum of Heads of State and Government. The Forum is the APRM’s highest decision-making authority.
Algeria will take over the Chair of the African Peer Review Forum for the 2024-2026 periods.
