Sierra Leone has dropped one place down from 117th to 118th in the latest FIFA world rankings.
Sierra Leone played two games in November, both were part of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers; it drew one and lost the other. Sierra Leone drew 1-1 in Freetown against Lesotho and lost 1-0 away to Benin. Dropping 4 points in the process.
Sierra Leone is tied at 118 with countries like Kazakhstan and Guinea Bissau. Lesotho who are in Group L with Sierra Leone in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers dropped from 138th to 140th.
Benin also fell down the rankings by two places, they are now ranked 84th in the world. Nigeria is the only country in Group L that moved up the ranking. Nigeria moved four places up to 31st.
The latest ranking is a damning indictment on the senior national team which has struggled under Ghanaian coach, Sellas Tetteh.
Sierra Leone will play Nigeria during the next international break in September 2020. Until then Tetteh will have to work on improving the ranking of the team.
