In order to enhance the capability of the Police to investigate crime, the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone has donated forensic equipment to the law enforcement institution. This was disclosed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Brima Kamara at a Press Conference in Freetown last week.
“We had asked the Chinese government through the Chinese Embassy to have helped us with forensic equipment, and I want to report that the equipment has been brought in Sierra Leone”, he confirmed.
He said installation of the equipment will be done now to be followed by training of personnel to prevent it becoming a white elephant.
”You can’t fight crimes if you don’t know the law; logic should be applied in investigating crimes and also science,” he stated, adding that forensic capability is vital in their work.
The equipment will help police officers dealing with cases of robbery and homicide, as there many cases that remained unsolved because of lack of advanced forensic technology
