Sierra Leone, South Africa waive visas for their diplomatic and service passport holders

As a means to strengthen bilateral relations between Sierra Leone and South Africa, both African nations have agreed on waiving visas for holders of Diplomatic and Service passports from the two countries, as confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The agreement was made during a courtesy visit by the South African High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Grace Jeanet Mason to the Foreign Affairs Minister of Sierra Leone, Timothy Musa Kabba in Freetown on 2nd November 2023.

In welcoming the diplomat, Kabba said the “development”, resonates with the mandate of the Ministry in promoting diplomatic and bilateral relations with other countries. He stated that the visa waiver is a “win-win” situation for both countries, stressing that that both countries seek to ensure free movement, and enhance development and investment.

Kabba highlighted the key priorities of the government, such as education, food security, energy, mining, tourism, and investment, and urged for  investment  in those sectors.
In her address, the South Africa High Commissioner assured Kabba that the visa waiver for holders of Diplomatic and Service passports would come into effect on the 30th of November, 2023.

Mason expressed the hope that the commitment between the two nations would be of benefit,  in terms of “easy access and strengthening diplomatic ties.”
