Ahead of Launching the FIFA Football for Schools (F4S) Programme, the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has commenced a 3-day training workshop for over 50 Physical Education (P.E) Teachers.
The training which was conducted by SLFA in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) started at the Wusum Hotel in Makeni on the 5th February, 2024.
Witnessing the opening ceremony of the training, the Acting General Secretary of SLFA, Mohamed Benson Bawoh, encouraged participants to take the training very seriously, adding that the country relies on them for the “success and sustainability of this novelty.”
Giving an overview of the programme, the lead facilitator Antonio Buenaño Sanches noted that the F4S programme seeks to make football more accessible to both boys and girls around the country by incorporating football activities into the education system, in partnership with relevant authorities and stakeholders.
The training will end with a children’s football festival at the Wusum Field, which shall symbolize the official launching of the F4S programme this Wednesday, February 7, 2024.
