Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba road court no 2 has ordered that one Santigie Mansaray be remanded in custody over an allegation that he illegally sold a land that never belonged to him.
Mansaray allegedly sold the land at Rokel village outside of Freetown to one Yusif Mansaray, a property that is alleged to be owned by the headman of the said village.
The Complainant Yussif Mansaray, explained to Politico that he had a land transaction with the accused Santigie two months ago during which he paid the sum of twenty one million Leones (Le 21,000,000)
The Accused Person Santigie Mansaray has been on remand for two months now for the alleged illegal land transaction.
The Complainant Yusif Mansaray said: “I gave twenty one million Leones (21,000,000) to Santigie for the land which he told me was his. The land was not his in the first place, and he openly told me that he had no money for me. I decided to bring the matter to court and even in court Santigie claimed that I gave him seventeen million Leones which is a blatant lie. The land is not his. All I am demanding is my money back.”
Santigie in his argument told the court that the complainant gave him seventeen millions Leones (Le17, 000,000) an amount the complainant told the court was not correct. Magistrate Mark Ngegba of court No.2 having listened to both men adjourned the matter to 27th November 2020.
