“Job Seekers Unit” demands reward in Bombali

A group of jobless youths in Bombali are demanding empowerment as reward for their efforts in rendering “beneficial services” to the district.

Executive Director of Job Seekers Unit, Abubakarr Kamara said they had been helping with sanitary activities across the district, and had voluntarily taken over cleaning of the central cemetery and other strategic public places in Makeni.

Councillor mobilises against Ebola

Following a number of recent Ebola cases in Ward 357 in constituency 100, in the Jalloh Terrace area of Kissy, the councillor last weekend convened an emergency meeting of community stakeholders to discuss measures to stem the tide of Ebola cases.

Amb. Daramy visits Sierra Leone school in The Gambia

Sierra Leone's High Commission to The Gambia, Soulayman Daramy last Friday visited three schools established by a Sierra Leonean who lived in that country for 28 years, according to information attaché at the mission, Ralph Sawyer.

At the Nursery, the ambassador said he was pleased to be invited "to see for myself the vision and product of a citizen of Sierra Leone imparting knowledge into pupils of a sister country."

OXFAM to boost Ebola Centers in Sierra Leone

Information and communication officer for the British charity organisation Oxfam in Sierra Leone says the organisation will be distributing items including disinfectants, electric pumps, hand washing stations, pump and toilet spare parts and other water and sanitation kits to be used at different Ebola centres in Bombali and Koinadugu districts in the north, and in Freetown.

"We've been doing a lot to respond to the Ebola outbreak in the country and we will continue to step up our response", Alpha Kamara said.

Aurora Foundation donates to Ebola patients

The Icelandic charity organisation, Aurora Foundation on Monday 17 November donated 2,000 kilos of medicine and medical supplies for the treatment of Ebola patients through the First Lady, Sia Nyama Koroma.

Donating the items, the Chairman of the Foundation, Olafur Olafsson said Aurora was aware of the huge problem Ebola posed to Sierra Leone adding that it required every support possible.

Sierra Leone Ebola treatment centre gets 60% survivor rate

Coordinator at the Hastings Treatment Centre in Freetown, Dr. Santigie Sesay, has revealed that they have recorded a 60% success in survivor rate since the centre opened about 2 months ago.

The centre, operated by Sierra Leoneans, on Tuesday discharged 63 Ebola survivors, its fifth set, bringing the total number of discharged cases to 228 “contrary to what other facilities have been producing.”
