Pujehun District Descendant Association, PDDA, through the district health management team, has donated money and food items for Ebola suspected cases and people in quarantined homes in the district.

PDDA National Chairman, Patrick Ansu "Carburetor" Kaikai said the items cost Le 36 million which money he said had come from executive members of the association and other indigenes of the district.

Regional Manager of the Anti-Corruption Commission office in Kono, has warned against misuse of funds meant to fight the Ebola virus disease and threatened huge penalty on conviction.

At a well-attended District Ebola Taskforce Committee meeting held at the government hospital in Koidu, Rev. Bob Kandeh strictly warned organisations and individuals handling such resources to use them judiciously and avoid being caught by ACC after the outbreak would have been eradicated.

Following a meeting yesterday, the French government has warned all its nationals to avoid travelling to Sierra Leone and Liberia due to the Ebola outbreak.

Paris also asked Air France, one of only three airlines flying to and from Freetown, to suspend flights to the Sierra Leone capital. But on both counts they did not affect Guinea.

Former opposition presidential candidate has launched an education support fund for all children who have lost or will lose their parents to the Ebola disease in the country.

Following the withdrawal by WHO of its entire team from the Ebola-hit district of Kailahun and the closure of its laboratory there, the Canada government is evacuating its three-member mobile laboratory team from the country over safety concerns.

According to Canadian TV, the country's Public Health Agency said the team was being recalled to Canada after a Senegalese WHO colleague was diagnosed with Ebola saying the situation was significant enough to require the withdrawal of the scientists from the country.

Prosecution at the tribunal trying 14 soldiers of the Sierra Leone military has taken in its eleventh and final witness.

Led by Gerald Soyei, the prosecution's case is now closed but it is unclear whether or not the court, presided over by Judge Advocate Otto During, would extend beyond the initial set trial period of 60 days which expires in 14 days.

Former Sierra Leone ambassador to the United Nations, Allieu Kanu, has called on government “to take strong diplomatic actions against Senegal for banning flights from picking passengers from Sierra Leone".

He made the call at a press conference on Monday at his Institute of International Law in Freetown. He urged that government should take Senegal to the UN, the highest diplomatic level.
