Sierra Leone president launches Trillium

President Ernest Bai Koroma says the initiative of the estate agency, Trillium Development, “will transform the country” in terms of infrastructural development.

Speaking at the Radisson Blu hotel at the formal launch of Trillium hills and white sands projects he said the launch represented an opportunity to widen the scope of competition among other institutions in the country, adding that, the company was in the country as a result of a plea made to companies to invest in the country.

Africa's civil society rejects presidential immunity

A network of African civil society and international organisations working in Africa says it is "gravely alarmed by the provision of any immunity for serious crimes committed in violation of international law" which is up for discussion this week in Ethiopia as an amendment to the Statute of the African Court on Justice and Human Rights.

Pupils demonstrate in Pujehun

Hundreds of pupils of the Holy Rosary Girls Secondary School in Pujehun town have demonstrated against an alleged encroachment on a piece of land believed to be owned by the Catholic mission.

The demonstration allegedly resulted in the vandalising of a wall-height building constructed few meters away from the school by some members of the Kamara family in Pujehun.

Pujehun Council pays fees for 150 pupils

With funds generated from property rate collected in 2013, the Pujehun District Council has awarded scholarships to 150 junior and senior secondary school pupils in four schools in the Pujehun township.

Addressing the gathering at the award ceremony, the Chief Administrator of the Council, Bockarie Buanie said the scholarships were worth some Le 12 million and covered a one-year composite fee for the beneficiaries.
