The national U-20 football team selected by the Sierra Leone Football Association left for Accra last evening on board a Kenya Airways Flight, amidst heated controversy ignited by sport minister Paul Kamara, who accused the SLFA of selecting an "illegal" team.

The team left Freetown following the intervention of Public Affairs minister Kemoh Sesay who asked his ministerial colleague to allow the team to make the trip to Accra. He said all issues raised by Minister Paul Kamara would be addressed upon the team’s return.

Police in Pujehun have confirmed the recovery yesterday of a missing AK 47 machine gun

that went missing on Friday 16 May with 30 rounds of ammunition.

It was found at the Holy Family Primary School, a stone's throw from the police station. Its disappearance had led to the detention of the OSD police officer to which it had been assigned.

The Chief Commercial Director of the mobile phone company Africell says his company has donated US$25,000 worth of communication materials towards the 2014 Street Child Sierra Leone Marathon to be held in Makeni.

Joe Abass Bangura was speaking at the official launch of the Marathon at Africell Headquarters at Wilberforce in Freetown. He said they owed it as a responsibility to the country to help street children by providing support to ‘Street Child Sierra Leone’, who are the organisers of the marathon.
