Hundreds of people have been left homeless at Nyandehun in Yawbeko Chiefdom in Bonthe District after fire engulfed their homes in the afternoon hours of Saturday 12 April.
55 houses were burnt down and 469 people displaced forcing them to seek shelter mostly in mosques and schools.
The victims told Politico the fire was caused by a bush fire emanating from the slash-and-burn farming practised in the area.

Prosecution in the ongoing mutiny trial has opened its case and informed the Court Martial at Cockeril in Freetown that they plan to bring at least three witnesses on the next adjourned date - Wednesday23, April.
14 soldiers of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces are being prosecuted for an alleged mutiny that to have taken place at Teko Barracks, the northern garrison in Makeni in August of last year.

For the first time since they were arrested in Makeni in August last year, 13 soldiers and one army captain have been formally charged by a Court Martial and the allegations put to them.
A new report out today says Sierra Leone lost an annual average of US$ 200 million from 2010 - 2012 to mostly iron ore miners African Minerals and London Mining Company.
If tax expenditure continues in its present trend, it is likely that Sierra Leone will lose more than US$240m a year from tax incentives in the coming years, the report adds.
