Women Caucus prexy wants more for women, girls

President of Sierra Leone's Parliamentary Women’s Caucus, Patricia Brown, MP, says more needs to be done to achieve the UN millennium development goals for women and girls, according to a release from the House.

Browne, of Constituency 37 in Kambia District was among hundreds of delegates attending a recent UN Conference in New York on the status of women.

The conference drew attention to the need for the training in science and technology, access to education as well as full employment and decent work for women.

Rutile increases production in Sierra Leone

Sierra Rutile Ltd Monday said that its first quarter production for 2014 was up strongly, according to Alliance News in London.

The titanium feedstock minerals company said it increased rutile production 12% to 28,218 tonnes from 25,087 tonnes and increased its ilmenite production 23% to 6,868 tonnes from 5,567 tonnes compared to the first quarter of 2012.

The company also said production of its zircon concentrate increased 36% to 877 tonnes from 643 tonnes.

Africa's growth set to reach 5.2% in 2014
