Authoritative sources close to the funeral committee for the late former president of Sierra Leone Ahmad Tejan Kabbah say a budget of around Le 2 billion has been submitted by people representing his family and the Sierra Leone People's Party.
The amount was paid into the funerals account yesterday.

The UN committee on human rights has expressed "serious concerns" over the state of human rights in Sierra Leone and the country’s effort at meeting its obligations under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, ICCPR.
The country’s human rights record faced serious scrutiny for the first time on 11-12 March this year in meetings held at the Palais Wilson, Geneva in Switzerland.

The disgraced minister was making his third appearance on four counts bordering on rape and assault.

A group of young girls in eastern Freetown has embarked on a sensitisation programme on sexual and gender-based violence against their fellow women, especially the stigma that comes with it.
The girls, pupils from different secondary schools in Freetown, expressed grave disappointment in parents who use their children for revenue generation, saying most of these parents were responsible for their children’s downfall.
