Sollywood toughens fight against piracy

Stakeholders in the Sierra Leone film industry have toughened their campaign against piracy by calling on the media to step forward and be part of the fight "to save the country’s young movie industry".
They made this call at the ministry of tourism in Freetown while addressing the media on the increase in the copyright infringement or piracy.
Efforts to curb money laundering

President of the Sierra Leone Association (SLAJ) of Journalists says the current fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism must be a collective one that involves every Sierra Leonean.
Kelvin Lewis told a press conference organized by the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) in Freetown that his association was aware of efforts by the FIU to institute policies and strategies to track down on and significantly curtail the illegal activities of money launderers and financiers of terrorism.

Abacha Street trader convicted

A trader, who sells along a prohibited area on Sani Abacha Street in Freetown, has been sentenced to a fine of Le 75, 000 or must go jail for two months.
Adama Koroma, who deals in cosmetics, was arraigned before Magistrate Davies Cole of Court No. 5 in Freetown. She was arrested with two boxes containing cosmetics at Abacha Street last Friday.
She pleaded guilty to the charges and was subsequently convicted and sentenced.
