A new National Plastic and Plastic Waste Management Bill will soon be introduced in Parliament, according to President Julius Maada Bio.
He made this revelation at the State Opening of the second session of the sixth parliament on the 6th August 2024. Bio said the bill will be developed to address the pressing issue of plastic waste in the country.
On Friday, August 23 and Saturday, August 24, President Julius Maada Bio will be handing over sites for the construction of new facilities, including classrooms, dormitories, pavilions and rehabilitation of existing ones at the Bo and Kenema Government Secondary Schools respectively.

Sierra Leone’s President, Julius Maada Bio has announced that the country’s inflation has rapidly decreased from its peak 54.59 percent in October 2023 to 31.93 percent in June 2024, whilst exchange rate has also remained stable.
The president was delivering his keynote address at a Banquet in commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the Bank of Sierra Leone, held at the Freetown International Conference Centre on Friday, August 2nd, 2024.

In his closing address, the lead state prosecutor Joseph A.K. Sesay has admonished the court-martial in Freetown that the first convict and the other remaining 26 soldiers planned to overthrow the Julius Maada Bio led-government without thinking about the repercussions.
