Following the outcome of the mediation exercise to resolve the political impasse between the All People’s Congress (APC) Party and President Julius Maada Bio-led government, the reelected Mayor of Freetown Yvonne Aki Sawyer has taken oath of office.

The Swearing in Ceremony which also included Chairperson for Western Area Rural and Councilors for Urban and Rural, was administered by the Minister of Local Government,Ambassador Tamba Lamina at the ministry’s conference room on 26^th of October 2023.

The Centre for Accountability and Rule of Law (CARL) in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Correctional Service (SLCS) has concluded a two-day validation session for the proposed amendments to the Sierra Leone Correctional Service Act.

The exercise was held at the New Brookfields Hotel in Freetown from the 24^th to the 25^th of October 2023.

Following widespread reports of rising tension in towns and villages in the Western Area Rural District ahead of the Village Head Elections, the Local Unit Commander (LUC) of Waterloo Police Division, and Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Ibrahim Mohamed Sama has called on Candidates to uphold peace before, during and after the election.

The Village Head elections are slated for Saturday 28th October, 2023.
