47 km roads for Western Rural District

Members of parliament have met at the Brama Town community centre in Koya and at the Lombeh Harding hall in Newton to officially commission contractors for the rehabilitation of 47.1 kilometres of feeder roads and bridges in the Western Area Rural District.

The project, costing Le 4 billion, will be supervised by the Western Area rural district council, the rural and private sector development project’s sub unit in the rural district, the district officer and district roads authority engineer for the designated project.

Magbass fraud case goes to High Court

The case of Samuel Thomas Bangura, former staff of Magbass Sugar Company who allegedly defrauded the company of the sum over Le 100 million has been committed to the high court in Freetown.

The accused, who was under preliminary investigation on two counts of larceny by servant and embezzlement, had been standing before Magistrate Komba Kamanda of Court No 2 in Freetown.

IFAD accused of theft

Residents of Bangambaya Village in Sandor chiefdom, Kono district have accused the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) of squandering over Le 38 million, funds meant for the construction of a warehouse and a drying floor.

The village headman, Kai Gboimakowa, told Politico that in 2010 the intergovernmental organisation approached them and identified their village for the construction of a grain store, warehouse and drying floor facilities.
