Newly appointed Commissioner-General of the National Revenue Authority (NRA) Ibrahim B. Swaray has expressed his desire to listen to the concerns of the Business Community with the aim of meeting their expectations in accordance with the law.

The new NRA boss gave the impression during a meeting with members of the business community held at a Lumley Beach resort in Freetown on the 30th of August 2023.

He spoke of his intention to remove barriers impeding collaboration between NRA and the business community.

Internal Affairs Minister vows to curb lawlessness on the roads

The much- reported joint exercise by the Police and road safety corps to address public road safety commences this Friday September 1. The Police in an earlier Press Release notified the public about their action and warned of prosecution against defaulters.

The exercise to be undertaken by the Directorate of Traffic Management and Road Safety will ensure stationary vehicles, motor bikes and tricycles parked on roadsides are removed or those responsible will face prosecution.

Suspended EDSA boss reinstated!

Politico can authoritatively confirm that the suspended Director General of the Electricity Distribution and Supply Agency, EDSA has been reinstated. At the time of his indefinite suspension alongside his deputy in 2021, the Ministry of Energy which supervises EDSA gave no reasons but it was a particularly difficult time for EDSA as public outcry grew louder over the rolling blackouts, especially in Freetown.

Human rights defenders join fight corruption in SIerra Leone

In order to minimize the threats it poses to society, the Human Rights Defenders Network –Sierra Leone in Partnership with Restitution Impact Limited has vowed to fight against corruption using a human rights-based approach.

The Human Rights Group made the commitment during a one-day training of over 40 Civil Society Organization (CSO) at the Methodist Church Hall, King Harman Road in Freetown on the 30th of August, 2023.

Sierra Leonean broadcasters urged to do community service

Media Lecturer, Isaac Massaquoi (Ph.D.) has urged broadcast journalists to devote ten (10) hours every week to programmes supporting community development.

Dr. Massaquoi was reminding journalists of a provision in the Independent Media Commission (IMC) code of ethics that compels radio and television operators to undertake such a commitment.
