Sierra Leone Court of Appeals overturns COI verdict

The Court of Appeal has dismissed the findings of the Commission of Inquiry (COI) chaired by Justice Bankole Thompson in respect of Francis Kaikai, former procurement Officer in the Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Food Security (MAFF).

CCYA trains 20 youth in skills development

In an effort to create jobs for young people, the Centre for Coordination of Youth Activities (CCYA) has trained 20 youths as part of the skills development on transformational leadership and Social Change Programme.

 The youth hub programme was launched on the 16th of September, 2023 in Kenema.

Chiefs trained in land governance

All town and section chiefs in Nongowa Chiefdom, Kenema District have been engaged in land governance. The engagement was to help prevent conflict and control the use of land in the country.

The engagement which was held on the 18th of September 2023 was to educate them on the levels of the establishment of towns, villages, and chiefdoms land committee.

Truck driver jailed 5 years for accidental killing

A Supreme Court Judge, Alusine Sesay, has during the September criminal session, sentenced a Truck Driver, Ishmael Bendu to five years imprisonment for accidentally killing a 19-year-old Victor Mansaray while driving the truck.

The convict, Bendu, after pleading guilty to the offence at the Freetown High Court No.1 on Tuesday 19th April 2023, also begged for mercy from the bench.
