All town and section chiefs in Nongowa Chiefdom, Kenema District have been engaged in land governance. The engagement was to help prevent conflict and control the use of land in the country.

The engagement which was held on the 18^th of September 2023 was to educate them on the levels of the establishment of towns, villages, and chiefdoms land committee.

A Supreme Court Judge, Alusine Sesay, has during the September criminal session, sentenced a Truck Driver, Ishmael Bendu to five years imprisonment for accidentally killing a 19-year-old Victor Mansaray while driving the truck.

The convict, Bendu, after pleading guilty to the offence at the Freetown High Court No.1 on Tuesday 19^th April 2023, also begged for mercy from the bench.
