Criminal prosecution is not always the best – ACC boss

 The head of Sierra Leone’s Anti-corruption commission told the Commonwealth Regional Conferences and Annual General Meeting of Anti-Corruption Agencies in Accra that the Non-Prosecution Policy of his agency is a set of guidelines that  aid prosecutors in deciding whether a particular matter should be prosecuted or not.

IGR to track Bio’s 103 campaign promises

The Institute for Governance Reforms (IGR) through its citizens online tracker on government performance named the Biometer is set to track 103 campaign promises made by President Julius Maada Bio during the 2023 multi-tier elections in the country, ranging from the 50,000 jobs for young people and the like.The tracker is set to cover the period from 2024 to 2028.  

Sierra Leone midwives call for support

Celebrating its 55th anniversary, the Sierra Leone Midwives Association convened to recognize and commend the role of midwives across the country and called for support to the Association. The theme for this year’s celebration was: “Midwives: a vital climate solution”.

Freetown City Council on flood mitigation exercise

As part of the flood mitigation efforts in the capital, the Freetown City Council (FCC) has commenced clearing garbage-filled gutters to help tackle flooding during the rainy season.

The exercise which is to cost some 1.5 billion old Leones is said to be carried out simultaneously in different areas in the city.

Agric. Ministry to increase commercial agriculture

After signing a performance contract with President Julius Maada Bio this year, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Henry Musa Kpaka has promised that his ministry will increase the level of commercial agriculture and key agriculture-related policies, and undertake rehabilitation of infrastructures in the country. 

President Bio during the signing detailed specific outcomes to which he expects the ministry to contribute for the long term-term development of Sierra Leone.
