After serving the Kenema Government Hospital for over four years, the facility’s Medical Superintendent, Dr. Ibrahim Mark Kapuwa has bid farewell to its staff and management.

In an interview with Politico, Dr. Kapuwa said despite issues that are bound to happen in any working environment, they were able to achieve a lot for the hospital and commended the staff and management for their roles.

He noted that when he took over as a medical superintendent of the hospital, it was in a terrible state.

The National Organising Secretary of the Fullah Union, Tabital Pulaaku International Sierra Leone Chapter, Mohamed Seray Jalloh, has disclosed the union’s plan to establish district ranches for cattle to prevent the destruction of agricultural produce in communities.

He told Politico in an interview that most of the cattle ranches are in very close proximity to small-scale farms.  He added that as roaming animals, cattle are difficult to control or prevent from destroying the farms.

The West African sub-regional bloc ECOWAS on Thursday 10^th August, 2023 ordered the activation of its Standby Force for a possible military intervention in Niger, where leaders of a coup have refused to return power to deposed President Mohamed Bazouma.

The decision was arrived at in Abuja, Nigeria where a summit of Heads of State in the region met on Thursday to discuss the crisis and in their communique gave the Junta up to Sunday to restore civilian rule by Sunday or risk military intervention.

Parliamentary Deputy Leader of Government Business II, Emerson Saa Lamina has called on the Minister of Youth Affairs Mohamed Orman Bangura to introduce a policy on Kush; a psychoactive substance that continues to harm young people across the country.

Lamina made this statement on the 8^th August 2023 during debate on the approval of the fourth set of nominees, saying “This house wants to see a policy on kush and how we can contain kush”.

The first president of the Sierra Leone Association of Women in Journalism (SLAWIJ) insists she’s still in charge and accuses a faction within the organisation which announced her ouster weeks ago, of fraud and deceit.

In a press release dated 10th August 2023, Millicent Kargbo said the association had been dealing with an incident of fraud by the directors of the organisation and some of their members.
