Kailahun - Koindu Road Project launched

President Julius Maada Bio has on Friday 16th of June this year launched a project aimed at upgrading the Kailahun-Koindu - Guinea-Liberia Border Road. The event was held on Friday, June 16, 2023.
Funded by the African Development Bank and the Government of Sierra Leone, the project is under the Mano River Union Road Development and Transport Facilitation Programme - Phase III.

Petty traders in line to earn state land – Minister of lands

The Minister of Lands, Housing and Country Planning,  Turad Senesie Ph.D has at the distribution of state lands to members of the Sierra Leone Commercial bike (Okada) riders Association and Union of Rickshaw (Kekeh) riders, who won  the state land raffle draw, promised that the next set of people to earn state lands are the Petty Traders.

Minister Senesie was speaking on Friday 16th June at McCDonald in Western Rural District - the designated place for allocation of the plots of land to the raffle winners.

Claim about EU distributing pens with camera, is FALSE

Claims: The European Union Election Observation Mission to Sierra Leone is distributing pens and other memorabilia with hidden cameras. The target are chiefs, police and ECSL staff.

A social media post which has been circulated on Whatsapp so many times is claiming that EU Election Observers are sharing pens with hidden cameras.

Media Groups condemn attack on BBC Journalist

The Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) and the Media Reform Coordinating Group have condemned an attack on BBC Correspondent, Umaru Fofana by supporters of the main opposition party, All People’s Congress (APC) immediately after a press conference organized by the party.

The SLAJ press release spoke of offensive remarks directed towards his mother, persistent subjection of further indecent language and gestures, and physical threats.

Advocates frown at child ‘exploitation’ in elections

Save the Children International-Sierra Leone and partners have expressed concerns over what they described as child exploitation and abuse by politicians who involve children in their political activities in the ongoing 2023 elections campaign in the country.

Save the Children, Children’s Forum Network and the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), expressed these concerns at a press conference held at the Save the Children’s office in Freetown on 15th June 2023.

APC wants international body to conduct elections
