President Julius Maada Bio has been re-elected for a second 5-year term, defeating his closet challenger Dr. Samura M.W. Kamara of the opposition All Peoples Congress (APC).
In his address to the nation, following the announcement of the results, President Bio made a conciliatory gesture saying “we must reunite in pursuit of common goal: enhancing peace, prosperity and progress of Sierra Leone’’.

The preliminary report of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Election Observation Mission to Sierra Leone states that 63 percent of 337 polling stations they visited during the June 24 General Elections, started late.
The delay was attributed to the late arrival of polling staff and materials.

The preliminary report by the Group of Seven (g7+) Election Observer Mission(EOM) to Sierra Leone’s 2023 multitier elections has indicated that all 25 polling centres they visited did not open on time and that there were delays that caused frustration among voters.
The report also noted that the delays were caused by late arrival of voting materials.
