Leone Rock miner gives Le20 Billion to a community in norther Sierra Leone

Leone Rock Metal Group Limited has presented to the Government of Sierra Leone on behalf of the primary host communities,  Dansogoia, Sambaia, and Simiria Chiefdoms in  Tonkolili district the sum of twenty-three billion three hundred and sixty-nine million eight hundred and ninety-five thousand three hundred and twenty Leones (20,369,895,320.00) as  Community Development Agreement Fund .

Water is top priority for residents of Sierra Leone’s capital – says new IGR report

More than half of Freetown residents say water is a priority for them in the municipality, according to a Citizens’ Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices (KAP) Survey published by the Institute for Governance Reform (IGR).

Executive Director Andrew Lavali in his presentation of the survey report said the exercise was done in February this year and was of the view that if conducted now, the number would have risen, since water availability decreases in the heat of the dry season.

68-year-old school teacher whose brutal killing some three weeks ago shocked the entire nation was yesterday laid to rest at the Ascension Town Cemetery in Freetown, a funeral that attracted teeming groups of mourners dressed mostly in black.

The funeral cortege of the late Gilis Edwin Ola Johnson from the Portuguese Town Church on Campbell Street where a service was held, passed through streets in the Central part of town and in front of his house, accompanied by pupils of various schools where he had taught.

Trade minister asserts protection of investors’ rights in Sierra Leone

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr. Hinga Sandy has asserted Government’s commitment to protect investors’ rights and create an enabling environment for direct foreign investment.

He was speaking at the 45th Session of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law Working Group III on Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) Reform.

Dr. Sandy acknowledged the need for States to have the right to regulate and be protected to achieve the goals and principles of sustainable development.

Justice Edwards urges dispensation of global neutral justice

Magistrate opens visa fraud inquiry

Mohamed Kamara, an alleged victim of visa fraud has told Magistrate Mark Ngegba that the 47-year-old accused Mohamed Sal of 66 Sir Samuel Lewis Road, Aberdeen in Freetown, first collected 25 million old Leones from him on the promise that he will provide him a visa to travel to Australia, but he failed to achieve that.
