IMC popularizes elections coverage, reporting

The Independent Media Commission (IMC) in collaboration with the Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA) has popularized elections coverage and reporting Regulations in the Eastern Region of the country.

The event was held at the Albertson Hotel in Kenema where radio station managers, representatives of Political Parties, and Civil Society Organisations were trained on the electioneering guidelines.   

Vice President engages council administrators

In order to ensure effective leadership in local councils across Sierra Leone, Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh and officials of the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs (MLGCA) have engaged the Chief Administrators of the 22 Local Councils on their operations.

He urged them to step up on service delivery in their respective communities until Mayors, chairpersons, and councilors are elected.

Sierra Leone police chief calls for tolerance between his force and the media

The Inspector General of Police, William Fayia Sellu has called for tolerance between the media and the police. He made the statement on the 28th of March 2023 at the closing session of a two-day training held for police officers and journalists.    

He advised both parties to tolerate each other and work for the development and interest of the nation.

Directly addressing the Police officers, he called on them to ensure they have a cordial relationship with the media.

Sierra Leone to develop app for polling day reporting

Electoral Commissioner for Northern Region, Abubakarr Koroma  says the commission is developing a new app for use by polling centre managers during the elections.

Koroma was addressing stakeholders at a seminar organised by the Centre for Accountability and the Rule of Law (CARL), on the state of electoral justice system in Sierra Leone, held at the Country Lodge Hotel in Freetown.
