Out of a total of 1,200 (one thousand, two hundred) slots allocated to the Government of Sierra Leone for this year’s Hajj, only 640 (six hundred and forty) which is about 65% of the quota of intending pilgrims are set to attend Hajj in the Holy land of Mecca.

The aforementioned number of intending pilgrims includes those without fault that are paying for themselves, Government assistance or scholarships, and the 129 (one hundred and twenty-nine) pilgrims that did not attend last year’s Hajj due to unforeseen circumstances.

Leaders of Political Parties taking part in the 24^th June Elections are to make a Pledge of Peace, a week before polling, according to the Executive Secretary of the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion.

Madam Hawa Samai told a National Security Sector Coordinating Group meeting in Makeni that the prepared pledge would see the politicians committing themselves to accept the results of the elections.

The Director of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Vanessa Phala has on behalf of the institution committed to creating one thousand decent jobs for Sierra Leonean citizens under the ILO’s ‘Opportunity Salone’ project.
