Transport minister assures of payment of airport staff

The Minister of Transport and Aviation, Kabineh Kallon has assured a cross-section of Sierra Leone Airport Authority (SLAA) staff that no one will be left out or disadvantaged when paying their end-of-service benefits.

Provincial blackouts blamed on illegal connections

Electricity Service providers using mini-grids in provincial rural communities have blamed the frequent blackout on the too many illegal connectors that they say have surpassed the projected number of electricity users, resulting in the weakening of the batteries of the mini-grids.

This was disclosed by authorities at a Press Conference held at the Ministry of Energy in Freetown Monday 20th March 2023.

Sierra Leones Parliament has approved a bilateral agreement that seeks to improve the welfare of migrant workers in Qatar. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Professor David Francis said the agreement seeks to protect the rights of Sierra Leoneans in Qatar.

I sold everything in my shop to pay visa – Woman testifies

An alleged victim of visa fraud, Hannah Ayawova Musa, has told the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1 that she had to sell everything including chairs in a shop she had rented for two years, just to raise money for a traveling programme to New Zealand that turned out to be false.

The court heard how she in turn also rented out the shop, having already paid NLE 15,000 (Fifteen thousand new Leones) and $300 (Three hundred United States Dollars) to the first accused, Fatmata Kula Shaw (24) after she called to say her visa was ready.
