ECOWAS Speaker vents out over high cost of roaming data

The Speaker of ECOWAS Parliament Sidie Mohamed Tunis has expressed frustration over the high cost of roaming data amongst ECOWAS member states, and the different tariff rates across the region. He also questioned why a West African traveler cannot use the same sims in two member states where the service provider is based.

Sierra Leone to be showcased for religious tolerance

Coordinator for the African Centre for Parliamentary Affairs (ACEP) Issifu Lampo has said they would like to showcase Sierra Leone’s gains in the area of religious tolerance to the world via documentary.

Lampo who accompanied the Parliamentary Caucus on Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) from the Gambia National Assembly made this revelation on the 2nd March 2023 during their visit to parliament. He stated that he was impressed with the level of religious tolerance in the country that is worth showcasing.

August 10 "arsonist" in court

40-year-old Foday Jamba Bangura of 16 Shell Street, Lumpa in Waterloo is in court for allegedly setting ablaze two police stations and two-government buses in Waterloo during the August 10, 2023 protests.

The accused appeared before Principal Magistrate, Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road Court No.1 on Friday 3rd March 2023. He was slammed with charges   ranging from arson, burglary and larceny, and robbery with violence.

SLeNCSA to demolish explosive ammunition

The Sierra Leone National Commission on Small Arms (SLeNCSA) in collaboration with the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) is set to demolish 7,769 (seven thousand, seven hundred and sixty nine) unserviceable high explosives and incineration of 622,879 (six hundred and twenty two thousand, eight hundred and seventy nine) small arms ammunition.

ONS ends elections security training

Ahead of the 2023 election, the Integrated Security planning Committee under the Office of National Security (ONS) has ended a four day regional elections security training.

The training which was supported by the UNDP took place at the Kenema District Council hall.
