NCD urges tolerance among Sierra Leone’s political parties

In order to uphold the foundational principles of National Unity, The National Commission for Democracy (NCD) has urged all Political Parties in Sierra Leone to embrace Tolerance, and Social Cohesion before, during, and after the June 24, 2023, national elections.

The Commission in a press release avowed the goal of creating a new political culture and attitude that will lead to good governance in the country.

Guinea invades Sierra Leonean territory, again

The frontier village of Yenga town which is at the centre of a dispute between Sierra Leone and Guinea has reportedly been entered into by Guinean soldiers who were said to have this time erected concrete pillars to demarcate boundaries between the two countries.  

The latest move by the Guinean forces if confirmed would be the first time they have taken such an action and would be seen as an escalation of a crisis that has gone on for some two decades.

Sierra Leone Embassy calls for a halt to mistreatment of nationals in Tunisia

The Embassy of Sierra Leone in Cairo (Egypt) has in a press release called on the Tunisian Government to look into allegations of maltreatment of a number of Sierra Leonean nationals in the North African country.

The news of ill-treatment came to the notice of the Sierra Leonean embassy after a press release to clamp down on illegal migrants was issued by the state of Tunisia, in response to President Kais Saied’s statement last week that if illegal migration continues it has the potential to change the demography of Tunisia.

EU presents project report in Sierra Leone

Leader of the Project Management Unit (PMU) of the European Union (EU), Dr. Julius Munthali has been recognized for the role he played in implementing EU projects in the District Councils of Sierra Leone, whilst he was presenting a status report of the project, at the end of mission.

The event took place at the conference room of the Ministry of Local Government and Community Relations (MLGCR) at Youyi Building on the 2nd March 2023.

Aki-Sawyer was emotional at police station - witness
