First blind law graduate in Sierra Leone

A visually-impaired law graduand from the University of Makeni (UNIMAK), Amidu Sankoh the first-ever blind law graduate in Sierra Leone has told Politico that he got his inspiration to study law to legally represent issues of disabled people.
Sankoh was speaking to Politico ahead of their convocation on Saturday 16th of March, in which he stated” that it is good” that they have their compatriots in the legal system.

Lieutenant Colonel Sandi of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) has told the Court Martial trying 27 military personnel allegedly involved in the November 26 2023 attempted coup, that top military commanders received intelligence that Freetown would come under attack that night.
Bio launches first sardine factory, calls for more marketing space

As he commissioned a canned Sardine Factory at Jui, outside Freetown, the first in West Africa, President Julius Maada Bio has said Sierra Leone needs to increase its marketing space.
The President said the factory established by local–based Fishing entity -SabCo on 12th March 2024, could see Sierra Leone overtake Morocco in the production of sardines.

Treason Trial: 11th accused captured on CCTV

Detective Constable Bockarie Mustapha told the High Court in Freetown on Wednesday 13th March 2024 that contrary to what he said, CCTV footage did not portray the 11th accused Kabba Kamara as someone held hostage by the unknown gunmen but he was actively among them.
The witness was responding to questions from state prosecutor, Oladipo Robin-Mason on whether they investigated a claim made by the accused that he was taken hostage by the assailants at Congo Cross while on patrol on 26th November, 2023.
NatCA to host major telecoms conference

The National Telecommunications Authority (NaTCA) is set to host the West Africa Telecommunications Regulatory Assembly (WATRA) from 19 to 22, March this year. During the regional body’s meeting, the Director General of NaTCA Amara Pedou Brewah will take over as Chairman of WATRA until the next meeting in 2025.
